Tanya Andrews Tate

Tanya Andrews Tate, a native Atlantan, has been given the prestigious "AV" rating by the Martindale-Hubbell National Legal Directory, the highest such designation given for both lawyer competence and integrity.  In both 2006 and 2007, Ms. Tate was named Georgia Rising Star "Super Lawyer" in employment law, a designation given to only 2.5% of the attorneys in the state.


Ms. Tate focuses her practice in the area of business litigation, with an emphasis on labor and employment matters, particularly issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and the Georgia Trade Secrets Act. 
In addition to representing both businesses and individuals in trial and appellate litigation, Ms. Tate also consults with employers, reviewing and drafting their policies and procedures manuals, non-compete agreements and non-solicit agreements and is a frequent public speaker on legal issues affecting employers such as "The Pitfalls of Hiring & Firing".  Ms. Tate also has experience litigating intellectual property and landlord - tenant matters.


Prior to launching her own practice, Ms. Tate worked for five years at the Lawrenceville firm of Andersen, Tate & Carr where she specialized in business litigation, focusing her practice in labor and employment law.  While at Andersen, Tate & Carr, Ms. Tate had the opportunity to litigate issues arising in this area of the law extensively.  
Before joining Andersen, Tate & Carr, Ms. Tate worked for the Atlanta firm of Mabry & McClelland, formerly known as Chambers, Mabry, McClelland & Brooks.  While at Mabry & McClelland, Ms. Tate defended  businesses and local school districts in employment, premises liability and personal injury matters where she gained substantial experience litigating cases with potential exposure of millions of dollars.


Ms. Tate received her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1995, where she was a Hatton Lovejoy Scholar and a member of the Georgia Moot Court Team and Moot Court Board.  She received her Bachelor of Journalism magna cum laude, with high honors, in 1992 from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, Blue Key, Phi Kappa Phi and was the receipient of the President's Award in recognition of scholastic achievement and leadership.


Ms. Tate was admitted to practice law in the state of Georgia in 1995 and is licensed to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  Ms. Tate is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Labor and Employment Section), Atlanta Bar Association (Labor and Employment Section), the Gwinnett County Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association.  Ms. Tate is also a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Board of Annandale Village, the Board of Trustees and Secretary of The Gwinnett Heritage and Environmental Center, the 2007 Campaign Cabinet of United Way and was selected to be a member of the 2004-2005 class of Leadership Gwinnett.
